Want something more casual and intimate?
Beginning Sunday, January 27th, we are starting to gather at the Eastlake Borders Books, Music and Cafe on the fourth Sunday of each month between 2 and 4 pm. Come and hang out, share your reading and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with good company! The cafe is located in the balcony. We'll have a placard on our table so that you can spot us!
February 5th is the Presidential Primary!
We will once again face a choice about who will be our President. Whether you are Democrat or Republican, it is imperative that you participate in this process and make your voice heard. Momentum is building for the LGBT community. Our political representatives are listening to us more and more. A very BIG reason for this response is that we have made ourselves felt in the voting booth. We are a voting bloc to be courted in these close races. If you have not registered to vote, register now before it is too late! The registration deadline for this primary election is January 22, 2008. Click the button to the left before you forget. Don't procrastinate. Those of you who are already registered, just a reminder that if you want to vote by mail (click here for application), you must apply by January 29, 2008. We've posted the New York Times coverage on the election candidates in the right hand column of this blog for a beginning point if you haven't already started to follow the election (although I can't imagine any of us missing out on all the coverage!). We also have multiple links on our Be Heard page to assist you and The Center has also posted a very informative page.
KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING!

by Marci Bair

A resident of Chula Vista (Rancho Del Rey) since 1997, from from the Kensington area of San Diego because he said he wanted a swimming pool and a 3 car garage and he sure got both. His home and swimming pool have been the site of many infamous parties including several held for the South Bay Alliance. Craig and his partner Jimmie, aka "Baby Cakes," and their white poodle named "Prince Casa Boo Boo" like to entertain a lot and this is the perfect house for that! Craig also loves to travel and recently visited Borneo this past year. Many more trips are planned for 2008).
Craig owns several companies. BancForce Financial Staffing that was founded in 1990, and provides financial staffing to banks, credit unions, mortgage, title, and escrow companies in California. Another is Cashmart, which is located at 1255 Imperial Avenue in San Diego, and was founded in 1995. Cashmart provides Bus and Trolley ticket sales, financial services, including check cashing and tax return preparation.
He joined the South Bay Alliance because he wanted to see more gay and gay friendly activism and openness in the Southbay. I asked him why he became so active in the South Bay Alliance and he quotes “Only a few people wanted to do it and I got tagged, because I don't know how to say no. Ha, Ha, Ha. Isn’t that how all great groups get started?" Craig jokes a lot but he is serious about growing the membership of the South Bay Alliance and that is why he stepped up to not only be the Treasurer but also Chair the Membership Committee because he feels the strength of an organization is its membership.
Craig also currently sits on the California Staffing Professions, a State Staffing Trade Association, and is their Treasurer. He is also very active in SAGA, and is a current member and former board member of a Gay Skiing, Snowboarding, and Social Association in San Diego. Stepping Stone San Diego, where he was the former President and Board Member.
